Not the ideal start to 2021 with the introduction of another lockdown. Fortunately both projects due to start in January 2021 had already been dismantled in October last year in anticipation of such an occurrence. This actually meant we were able to start work on both St Margaret's, Olton and St Margaret's, Rochester early. The restoration at Rochester is well on the way, with both Swell and Great soundboards having been fully restored. All the pipes have been cleaned and fitted with new tuning slides. The pedal board is complete and the original bellows is currently dismantled ready for re-leathering.The rebuild at Olton involves a full chamber re-ordering, with new direct electric soundboards for Great and Choir. The traditional swell organ has been turned through ninety degrees to improve tonal egress, and the sluggish electro-pneumatic action has been replaced with 'Heuss' direct pallet magnets.
